Electives:
In addition to core curriculum subjects such as English, Maths, Science and HASS, students in Years 8,9, 10 and 11 are able to choose from a broad range of elective subjects. These vary from semester to semester, depending on student interests but can include Agriculture, Japanese, Home Economics, Textiles and Design, Manual Arts, Media Arts, Extension PE, Engineering, ICT, Dance, Visual Arts, Agriculture and Music. Our modern facilities are spacious and airconditioned and include specialist classrooms for relevant subjects. Individual Study Times is offered twice a week for students to work on assignments or homework under the supervision of secondary staff.
Technology:
Technology is an integral part of the secondary learning process. In Year 7, students are loaned a Chromebook, and those in Years 8-11 participate in a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. Apple iMacs are available for students to experiment with photo and movie editing and our 3D printers provide endless opportunities for creativity.
Extra-curricular:
Our Secondary students have the opportunity to take part in activities including virtual debating competitions, the Duke of Edinburgh program (Bridge Award), the Opti-MINDS Creative Sustainability Challenge and the Kokoda Challenge in Brisbane.
